That is the least of the problems the show has, and regardless, I am old enough to ignore whatever messages a television show may or may not be suggesting. However, I would argue that the real message there is that blackmail is a less troublesome and expensive method of controlling someone than going through the legal system which does have a habit of favoring the children of lawyers over young men and women who belong to minority groups.

Regardless of all of that, I do not take advice on my media habits from seventeen year olds.
